BBE InConversation with Judith Baumel and Rachel Hadas

Join us Tuesday, September 13 at 7 p.m. Eastern (4 p.m. Pacific) for a reading and conversation with Judith Baumel and Rachel Hadas. Judith will be reading from her most recent poetry collection Thorny and Rachel will be reading from her poetry collection Pandemic Almanac Together they will examine the art and place of poetry. We welcome questions from the audience!

Judith Baumel’s books are The Weight of Numbers, for which she won The Walt Whitman Award of the Academy of American Poets; Now; The Kangaroo Girl; Passeggiate and Thorny. She is Professor Emerita of English and Founding Director of the Creative Writing Program at Adelphi University. She has served as President of The Association of Writers and Writing Programs, director of The Poetry Society of America and a Fulbright Scholar in Italy.

Rachel Hadas is the author of many books of poetry, essays, and translations. Her latest collection is Pandemic Almanac (Ragged Sky Press, 2022); Love and Dread (poems) and Piece by Piece (prose) appeared in 2021. The recipient of honors including a Guggenheim Fellowship in Poetry, she is Board of Governors Professor of English at Rutgers University-Newark, where she has taught for many years.
