We come to you with words about our doings! But first, we’re introducing our Department of Congratulations!

Creative burnout strikes the best of us and often the best way around it is to join a community dedicated to igniting new creative flames. Micros & More focuses on short fiction and nonfiction, anywhere between 300 and 1000 words, flash work that leaves a lasting effect on readers. The workshop emphasizes mutual respect and encouragement, as well as seasoned writing advice. In keeping with Birch Bark Editing’s mission, Micros & More focuses on creating and sustaining a supportive community, an added gift in the writing world.

It’s May and we’re emerging. We hope you are too. It’s not long before you’ll find us at the beach.

Many thanks to those of you who came out to hear Erica Plouffe Lazure and Jill McCorkle talk about their books and life as a writer. If you haven’t seen it, here’s the video link. Our Micros & More online flash workshop was exhilarating and the participants all generated exciting new work based on the readings and a series of prompts. Our conversation ranged from process to content to fraught topics. Look for more offerings below and on our website.

The daffodils are working their way out of the wintry ground and we’re finally emerging into spring. Our joy derives from our editing work, and we know they feel the same way. Allow us a brag or two – here’s what we’ve heard from clients:
